Sam Choy's " ISLAND FLAVORS " cookbook
Sam Choy is one of the top celebrity’s chefs from Hawaii, who is also so well known that around the world that he is even listed on the who’s who Food Network web site of along with the likes of Emeril Largasse.
He is an Award-winning restaurateur, been featured in major magazines like “bon appetite”, authored a series of successful cook books, as well as hosting his own cooking show.
But with his typical modesty Sam will tell you that he is just a local boy who has done well. While growing up on the north shores of Oahu and working in the family’s restaurant, he learned the basics of cooking. According to Sam, it’s the amazing mix of culture and flavors the make Hawaiian cuisine unique.
There is so much more that the island cuisine has to offer the rest of the world, the mix of both Asian and Hawaiian culture has created a blend of flavors like no where else in the world. Sam says that he can see Hawaiian cuisine becoming just as popular as anything else dished up in New York. The new buzz word is “Luau”
